Mandala Shaker Table — 2017

This poplar shaker table was laser cut with mandala designs inspired from traditional Indian textiles. The goal of this project was to learn the basic fundamentals of furniture making, but also incorporate a new and fun element to a functional table.

The Near and Far Lamp — 2017

Lasercut maps adorn this lamp, both in the maple base and the canvas shade. The base has a world map design on it, while the shade has a map of Savannah, GA. It reminds me that no matter where I live, I will always have a home in this world.

The Old and New Silk Road — 2017

The history of textiles is a long story that starts at the beginning of time. Mankind has created textiles not only to fit their needs, but to also tell stories. Textiles evolved and certain regions naturally perfected different types of textiles. Trades began and continue today as well. Fabric and textiles will always be a necessity, but the way they are created and transported are different. This wall piece shows the juxtaposition between the old and new textile industries. The laser cut circles are maps of three of the biggest modern textile cities today -Istanbul, Lake Como, and Mumbai- which are all connected by a map of the ancient Silk Road, a tribute to the past and where it all started.
